Womb of sound embodies the origins of sound and its infinite capacity to affect our human lives. Our first experience of sound as humans is in the womb of our biological mother, hearing her heartbeat. As our awareness of sound expanded over time, music became an essential way to communicate with each other and the different dimensions of existence. It is known that the supposed origins of music as we know it came out of Africa. Incorporating images of musicians such as Johnny Nash, along with images of African women gives narrative to how our contemporary musical expressions have origins in the microcosmic womb of our mother’s and in the macrocosmic wombs of the earth and universe.
