Soul Circumference has multiple connections to African and Diasporic connection via the engine of musical and visual expression. I cannot remember the name of the deity represented on top of the record, but it is of Sierra Leonian origin and the deity blesses young woman during their coming into womanhood ceremony. Records are a conduit for transmitting spiritual and cultural information. So for people of the Diaspora, we can get information about our cultural heritage through the rhythmic and melodic transference of modern black music and it’s multiple platforms.
